Casa do Amendoeiras

Casa do Amendoeiras

Casa Das Amendoeiras is a spacious and luxurious four bedroom / four bathroom villa cut deep into a steep hillside, with stunning  views by day and night over fifty miles of the Algarve coast. Gentle mountain breezes take the edge off the blistering summer heat, and heady scents drift in from the mature gardens around the pool in the evening as you relax in the jacuzzi or prepare the barbecue on the extensive terrace. Casa Das Amendoeiras (House Of Almond Trees) is a private home for most of the year and as such features a fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher and washing machine), and wide screen satellite TV (with English channels). The technically minded will be pleased to hear that there is a wireless router for Internet access (plus cards for your laptops), optionally available is a fully equipped office with printer and mail servers, and also, optionally, a large computer controlled MP3 based hi-fi.

The house can be presented with whatever sleeping arrangements you require, but by default it has four double bedrooms, three with en suite bath rooms. If you prefer one room can be made available with a single bed and two child sized bunks, however we offer a discount if you would prefer it as a fully equipped office (because that is how it is used the rest of the year).

The master bedroom feature a large private balcony with the same beautiful views as the main terrace. By the side of the house is a lawn for the kids to run around on, and the house is set well back from the road with a drive. The house and pool will be cleaned and the garden watered each day, and baby sitting and even catering services are available if you wish.

The villa is ten miles North of Faro airport, on the exclusive hillside development of Quinta das Raposeiras - all access roads are paved. Just along the road are tennis courts and you will find bars and restaurants at the bottom of the hill (ten minutes walk). Nearby are the contrasting villages of Bordeira (very simple and Portuguese) and Santa Barbara (with a large expat community). You'll avoid the hustle and bustle of the tourists traps on the coast and instead enjoy the tranquility and charm of the laid back Portuguese lifestyle, although nightclubs, discos and fine French and English restaurants are within easy reach should you choose to take a break from the simpler (and cheaper) Portuguese style.

You are  near the bustling market town of Loule, the gentle hill town of Sao Bras and Faro, the capital of the Algarve with its historic centre. These are twenty minute drive away as is the delightful "Ilhe De Faro", the least spoiled of the beaches, refreshingly free of 'do not' signs and, dare we say other holidaymakers!

If you want to explore the Algarve, you are perfectly placed in the centre. Out of sight and sound tucked behind the hills in front of you is the "trans Algarve" IP1 motorway, a five minute drive takes you to the Estoi junction.

Should you like walking there are a variety of paths leading off the hill, including one that will lead you to a quite superb French restaurant. A book detailing other walks is in the villa , and if you have a Garmin GPS we can e-mail you some tracks.

Keep to this road for approx. 6 km.  You will pass a sign reading N2 Sao Bras de Alportel and shortly after this a sign reading S.Bras de Alportel, Estoi.

Turn right (Do NOT miss this turn or you will be on the IP1 motorway).

Carry on this road for just over a kilometre until you see the Galp petrol station on your right and then pass under the IP flyover, immediately after that look for a road off to the left with a sign Borderia 3km.  Turn left here.

The road twists and climbs to Bordeira.  Drive through this village and continue climbing.  In about 1km. look for signs Agostos.  S.Barbara de Nexe, Quinta das Raposeiros.  Turn left there.

Carry on (o.4k) until Restaurante Terra Nova and turn right with Cafe Raposeiros on your right corner and large sign Quinta das Raposeiros on left.

Go on up the hill and after 0.8km veer right and continue up hill to the next
